How I Learned to Swim is a magical realist play about a black woman, Jamie, who finally begins learning to swim at 30, in the midst of her grief, guilt and trauma.

Written by playwright Somebody Jones and delivered by one-woman cast Frankie Hart, we’re taken on a journey of black aquatic history, Afro-diasporic myth and acceptance.

The set at Brixton House, London. Photograph by BGSC founder, Marsha Nsiah, who was invited to attend the production.
