AFROSURF, the book

AFROSURF is a visual book that takes a glimpse into the history and culture of surfing across 18 coastal countries in Africa.

Concepted by South African surf brand Mami Wata and co-founder Selema Masekela during the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic and bolstered by a super successful Kickstarter campaign, all royalties from the book are donated to the surf therapy organisations: Waves for Change & Surfers Not Street Children.

Its pages burst with over 200 photos, 50 essays, surfer profiles, thought pieces, poems, playlists, illustrations, ephemera, recipes and a mini comic.
